Delmon Young will not sign with the sixth different organization of his career, as the 29-year-old outfielder/designated hitter was re-signed by the Baltimore Orioles.

In 2014, Young played in a part-time role for the Orioles, appearing in just 83 games, mostly at DH and against left-handed pitching. The limited role seem to benefit both parties, as the Orioles made the post season for the second time in three years and Young had a productive offensive year (.302 BA, 7 HR, 30 RBI, .442 SLG, .779 OPS). And everyone remembers Young’s big hit in the ALDS against the Detroit Tigers.
Even though Young played in the outfield for 28 games just a season ago, it doesn’t seem likely that he will be the answer to the vacancies in the Orioles outfield caused by the departure of Nelson Cruz and Nick Markakis.
The Orioles remaining outfielder options through free agency aren’t that enticing but include the likes of Ichiro Suzuki and Colby Rasmus. By now, everyone is aware of the depth that the San Diego Padres have in their re-tooled outfield, so it is no surprise that the Orioles are one of the teams mentioned as possible trade partners.
Interestingly enough, the Orioles recently released Quintin Berry, an outfielder who could have given them a defensive/speed option in the outfield next season.
